# AI Vegetable Sorting Machine

Onions, potatoes, and other vegetables move in high volumes through storage and pack — where manual sorting by size, shape, and defects becomes a permanent labour cost. A **vegetable sorting machine** with AI vision standardises grades for retail, food service, and export from a single line.

## Why a catch-all vegetable page

Many commodities share the same buyer logic: uniform size for count packs, defect thresholds for peel and skin, and throughput that matches harvest or store release. ## Onion grading

Onion lines sort by bulb diameter, skin quality, double bulbs, sprouting, and mechanical damage. Export and domestic retail programmes use different defect tolerances; computer vision applies your rules consistently at speed instead of relying on rotating manual crews in dusty, cold environments.

## Potato grading

Potato packhouses grade for size (count cartons and bulk), skin finish, greening, scab, and damage from handling. Uniform size bands reduce retail rejection and optimise storage allocation. FruitSort integrates with existing conveyors and diverter systems common in vegetable facilities.

## Grading parameters and throughput

- **Size and shape** — length, diameter, and ovality where relevant.
